CannaBus Appeal?

Cannabus Proposal Volunteers needed
CANNABUS PROPOSAL :

Basically, my activist mates and I - on Facebook and other places - have clubbed together for a campaign bus. The other day, a crazy dude (that's me) went out and bought one, and it's a double-decker. It is destined to be a core part of a "CannaBus UK Roadshow", and is a GRASS-ROOTS initiative.

It's currently stored in Scotland, the wrong colour and awaiting a final push to get the show on the road. Basically, we want to be ready by MID-JUNE-2009, so we can maybe get into festivals, including Glastonbury.

The mission is to dispel the hysteria and mis-information that persists with this medicinal herb. The short story is that it will be an information and education bus relating mostly to Cannabis, and especially the current misapplication of the UK Law. We are boosted by changes internationally, such as in Canada as well as pending legal challenges in the UK courts.

Our attitude is basically 'This is a War, on the unjust War against Cannabis'. Having said that, we don't want to defy or offend people and lose the message on the way. It's just about turning the tables now, taking an assertive stance, rather than aggressive one.

What should happen when the CannaBus comes to town? The bus is seen parking up - with a huge leaf flag with flapping fronds, raised high above the roof. (my dream) Drumming and percussion starts - that's me - African Djembes, jangly things. Then some shouting, then a mixture of discussion and activities, including:

BUS:
For example, a few days touring Scotland

STAFF:
Driver and preferably - a co-driver. Possible total team of about a dozen, or as many as 20: driver, co-driver, cook, server, web-tech, speakers, sellers, stewards, musicians etc.

The bus will be run like an information and entertainment hub. Levels of operation are: Level 5 - Festivals, especially where pitch-space is large - for stage-shows /comedy/ juggling etc down to Level 1 - Driver only! Interested people get on bus, they pass by leaflets /multimedia, donate if we need it and get off. Next stop please!

FLASH-MOB:
Wherever we go, we will challenge and mobilise the local supporters to assist us - especially lunchtime and weekends. Some will have 'medicated' elsewhere, and this will be one of the ingredients to 'the vibe'.

If the locals do it openly in the locale where we are, then so much the better.

We do not and will not condone the taking of illicit drugs.
We do not campaign for cannabis to be available to anyone under 18.

How is that controlled right now? Well, because we haven't got much time, we're concentrating today on Cannabis. We're also talking about this plant, because it is a plant after all.

ALREADY GOT:
Bus! (needs transfers putting on, or 'pimp my ride', I wish.)
African drums for drum jam experience.

OUTSIDE:

Outside: Optional seating area in fine weather, with shows and talks etc.
Upon entrance: Driver area could be good as a 'prompt' for donations to run the bus.

Lower Gangway: Hemp-related information / products (Campaign / Scientific & Government Info and Statistics etc.) Basic catering - tea/coffee/cakes. Headshop items. (Low value)

Upstairs: Seating / reading / 2nd multimedia area. (Campaign / sponsorship) Growing advice and products. (High value) Headshop items. (High value)

So, the bus aims to provide: Cafe. Chill-out: music/infovids/internet
Pastel drawing on pavements.Live music - drumming circles - various instruments jamming. Comedy. Chess. Intellectual debate. Theatre. Sound-podding peoples' opinions and transcribing them later to offer as a kind of (world first?) pod-petition to PM. Juggling. Fun!
Celebrities (Joanna Lumley where are you?) would drop by, particularly at a local event! Basically, every town we go, there will be advance warning, and our supporters of whom there at least 4 million in the UK, will bring their unicycles and gifts of money and food, and all of their skills from chalk-graffiti to dance - whatever!

We desperately need the following for speeding up the progress on this:
6 Mobile /PDA /gps handsets with internet capability and unlimited minutes to keep everyone in touch and blogged up.

At the same time, a paint-job, or just huge stickers are needed on the bus. We could also let the 'kids' loose on it, or a custom paint specialist - whatever! It is currently already kitted out for basic catering, and it has an upstairs seating/display area. We would like to install a multi-media screen, playing topical news and relevant online video.

A computer (laptop?) that has mobile internet for public and crew use is pretty essential. So, to do all this and adding in safety checks /seat belts, insurance, fuel etc, is an estimated £8,000 - where the paint-job and decor is the most variable factor.

The price is less in cash if we can get some freebies - e.g. phones or computer. Remember, that once cannabis is legal, 'hip' corporates will be clambering to get on board with this herb! Some office space or admin or resources would be great - but we're not expecting you guys to provide everything. Basically, anything you can offer right now would be a bonus to us, thank you.

Either you could help by providing money - or a mixture of money and sponsorship. You can even be a silent partner - or you can have as much fun as you like with it, when you like. Now you too can become a part of Hemp History, by helping to launch the CannaBus UK Roadshow!

Sponsorship is good, partly because it builds respectability and recognition and aids networking. We can almost completely sell out on this because once it's legal, Cannabis will be totally productised anyway!

If it helps respectability at your end, I have the ear of a charity, related to drugs and young people. That charity would be happy to accept a donation, or enter into sponsorship contracts on behalf of our present group. They would then spend it on our behalf, or give most of the items or finances to us, keeping some benefit for themselves. In cash terms, the charity might want a 20% for their trouble.

We do also have a growing network of Facebook supporters:
http://apps.facebook.com/causes/255251
or http://www.lca-uk.org/
For 'anti-sleaze' reasons, I would be happy to pledge to donate any increase in value of the bus, minus 10% for every month that I put it in service to the cause. Alternatively, I could run the catering concession as my business, while the Roadshow gets 50% of profits and uses the bus at the same time. All that is just fine tuning details - of which there are a lot, as you can imagine.

Thanks again for your time. Peace and Love. Ed.

CANNABIS CAMPAIGNERS DEMAND STATEMENTS FROM ELECTION CANDIDATES

CANNABIS CAMPAIGNERS DEMAND STATEMENTS FROM ELECTION CANDIDATES
20 May 2009

Legalise Cannabis campaigners in Britain are calling for definite statements on the legal status of cannabis from all candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Alun Buffry, 59, who founded the Legalise Cannabis Alliance (LCA) as a political party in 1999, said "The LCA contested over 70 elections and
we were able to show a significant level of support for legalisation, even though our Party was focussed on that single issue. We also learned
that a much larger number of supporters voted for other parties with other policies, but nevertheless the support basis for legalisation is massive.

"But the LCA de-registered as a party in 2006, continuing to fight on as a pressure groups, in the hope that the cause would be followed more
publicly by some of the larger parties that have legalisation on their agenda, or individual MP's.

"But that has not happened - in fact many of us are confused as to where exactly the Parties and their candidates stand.

"To a great number of people it remains a very important issue, and we would like to hear opinions from all the candidates in the forthcoming
elections."

Dilys Wood, Secretary and Coordinator for the LCA, added: "The cannabis issue is not just about the Right to grow and use cannabis in our own
homes under the protection of law, but also about medicine, the environment, fuel and pollution, law, education and much more.

"So we are calling on all candidates to let us know what they will do, if elected, to change the law and stop the unjustifiable punishment of
victimless cannabis users and ensure equal protection under the law as those who choose to drink alcohol or take tobacco.

"The LCA is calling on all supporters of legalisation to demand an answer from each and every candidate they consider worthy of their vote,
and hope that the press will echo this call.

"The debate on legalisation has continued since the 1960's. Successive Governments have refused to even talk to campaigners.

"Maybe the time has come for us once again the form a political party and raise our own voices in the arena."
